intel pro/wireless mini pci card???

Just installed an INTEL PRO/WIRELESS 2200BG MINI PCI CARD into my t41
thinkpad. No problems in the installation. When i boot up the pc i get the
message ERROR 1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - power off and
remove the mini pci card..... And then goes no further.

I tried to disable the card thru the BIOS and then load the drivers and
software first but still doesn't work.
Do i need some other patch/download or is something not right.......Tia

Sounds like it's not an IBM card. There's a hack you might be able to use to get around this - read back on the posts here.

Found the 'no 1802' patch. How do i run this as i have no FDD on this machine. It says somewhere that you have to run it from DOS (not the Windows shortcut) How do i get round this....Tia

You will have to make a bootable MS-DOS CD. Check this website for how to make one.

Copy the no-1802.com file to the "files" folder, then burn the CD. Use the CD to boot your laptop and run the file. Nothing will happen. You reboot and it should be fine. Of course you will need to remove the MINI PCI card before you can boot the laptop.

This works on my T30. I am not sure about other models.
