T42/Radeon Mobility 9000 Performance on External Monitor?

#1 Post by james2008 » Wed Jul 30, 2008 9:38 pm

I just attached my T42 to a widescreen LCD monitor for the first time. The monitor does not display nearly as "crisp" an image when the T42 is the video source. (The other video source is a motherboard-integrated Intel video adapter.) Did anyone else have a similar experience? Anything I might try to fix the image quality?

When I hooked up my old T41p to a 17" Dell I had not issues whatsoever.

What type of monitor are you hooking up to?

Have you loaded the .inf file for that monitor?

Are you attempting to use as a primary display. secondary or what?

I would also update your GPU drivers if you have not done so in some time. Other than that and checking the refresh rates I am out of ideas.

Good luck.

Is the external LCD running at its native resolution? For a 19" Wide, that's 1440x900. For a 20" or 22" wide that's 1680x1050. For a 24-27" wide that's 1920x1200.

If you can't find those resolutions in the control panel, you'll need to install the monitor's INF files or use pstrip.exe to access those resoltuions.

Are you using the DVI interface or the VGA one? I drive a WUXGA (1920x1200) from my T40P via DVI and it is fine.
