[SOLVED]some question about mini dock + t40

hi, last week i bought a used mini dock for my t40 without the power adapter,
i just want to ask which port on the mini dock actually works without the power adapter, because when i try to plug flashdisk into the dock's usb port, it won't work. but when i plug external monitor into the vga port on the dock, it works.
can anyone confirm what port works on mini dock without the power adapter, or my dock's broken

I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. A dock is useless without external power. To answer your question directly, I don't know . But if a particular port works 'with' power plugged in then there is nothing wrong with the dock.

i just want to confirm that mini dock cannot be used without the power adapter right?
so in this case i must buy the power brick then....

That is correct, buy an AC adapter to use the dock. G40/G41's use the same AC adapter.

You'd probably be better off getting a different dock that uses your Thinkpads AC adapter if you can't find a mini dock AC adapter. The Port Replicator II comes to mind ...
