T42p hang

Hi pals,

I have a trouble with t42p, was running fine for lot of months, but recently i have a weird trouble, the screen freeze but the thinkpad continue (i can hear sound of windows), another sympthon, when i power on sometimes i dont get screen , but pc is like runnig, others time i see lines of colors in all the screen. Can be the ATI card blow up, memory ? if you have some tips i thnkfull a lot..and thx for reading...

sounds like it might be the ati gpu needing reballing/reflowing.

if you need this repair, it's not what most folks would consider trivial.
there is a forum member who does this kind of work and from what i've seen, has a very good reputation.

Same thing happened to my T41P, however i had extended warranty so IBM replaced the system board with a new one.

quez, how i drop temperature, cause my heat gun only have one speed , is like on and off...for drop i get more far away of the mb? or when i get 230c i stop the gun?
