external monitor won't show higher resolutions
external monitor won't show higher resolutions
hello again,
I have a DVI 1600x1050 LCD hooked up via a dock to my t42. however, when I choose any resolution higher than 1280x1024 the monitor scales it so the edges scroll to the sides of the screen's image. is there a driver or ati app that I need to install, or a procedure to turn this feature off and fit the resolution to the entire screen?
I had a t40 hooked up to the same dock and monitor before it died and had no problems (and I think these have the same graphics card as well)
thanks for any help you can offer!

If you check the specification sheet:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-57839
You will see that resolutions beyond XGA are supported only with panning mode.

Try the Omega drivers.

Some of the dock DVI ports have 1280x1024 resolution limitation.

Look at the DVI Note after the Features section.

Thinkwiki has a good explanation and work arounds for the limitationsof some Thinkpads' DVI output.
W520, X301, T500, (past X61( SXGA+),T42P,SL500, A31, R52, T42,X32(SXGA+), T40P,A31P, A21P, 770Z)
Democracy is not something we have, Democracy is something we DO.

what's weird is that t40 could always display 1600x1050 on this monitor and dock, it wasn't until I got the t42 that it started.
yes, even with the presentation director it limits it to 1280.
I may have had the omega drivers on my t40, I remember installing something like that at some point in the 4 years I had it. I will try those tonight and get back.
