Older Port Replicator compatible with T41?

Hi, I was wondering if the older Port Replicator for the T20/21/22/23/30 is compatible with the T41? Or does one have to go for the new Port Replicator II? There are plenty of the older one's going cheap on ebay (UK), but the newer model is rather scarce, and expensive.

Just trying to save some cash!

You need the new one (which is backward compatible). The old one is not forward compatible. ... JD Hurst

is it just that the old port replicator wont physically fit?

IE: if you hacked apart an older port replicator or dock so that you could connect it to a newer thinkpad, would it work?
