My T42 didn't come with a wifi card, should I get Atheros or

Hi,

Should I buy a PCMCIA wifi card like Belkin: http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product. ... ct=2513278 or should I buy the Atheros on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ThinkPad-T42-Atheros ... 18Q2el1247 (sale ends in two days)

Both options are about the same price.

I've heard that PCMCIA cards have a better reception or something. All I want to do is connect to hotspots in cafés and the library.

Thanks
Frankie

I doubt that.

Main reason I'd recommend the internal card is because pcmcia cards stick out in an annoying way.

Grab one from underclocker in the forum's Marketplace before they're gone...great deal, and an even better seller.

Yep and it's an which is better (stronger) than the intel card.

Took me awhile a year ago to hunt down a good one for a T40.

Are internal wi-fi cards interchangeable with cards from other models of Thinkpad, i.e. one from a T40 into a T41 etc..?

A while back, I had 2 Thinkpads (but just 1 internal wireless card) in pieces and when I put them both back together I must have put the wireless card in the wrong Thinkpad and on bootup it gave an error straight after POST to do with the network card not being recognised/allowed?

When I put this card into the other Thinkpad it worked perfectly.

I hope it will work. It will be a T41 card into a T42.
