T42 - Correct driver problems

#1 Post by rossh » Fri Aug 22, 2008 1:46 pm

Hi guys, thanks to some help from you guys I now have a almost full functioning T42, but I still have a problems.

First of all the machine
T42
Model 2327
Other bit S63

My wireless doesn't work, I've tried all the drivers that are on the Thinkpad driver list in the hope that something will work but this hasn't helped. In device manager I'm getting question marks on Network Controller and PCI Modem. Are these the reasons why? Or am I being stupid because I have to turn it on? Also on the start menu there is no "connect to" on the right hand side.

Cheers for any help

Ross

Sorted it, almost!!

Got wireless, but still no PCI Modem driver. Not sure what it does and if needed but I'm sure i'll get there

Also, an oldish problem. When connecting anything to my USB ports, it says that device can perform faster if connected to a USB 2 or something. It used to happen all the time, but since the new install, it happens once in a while. Any clues??

You need the Conexant modem driver and not the Lucent driver.

Modem driver? Who still uses a modem. I haven't enabled a modem in 5 years.

Try Windows Update, I had the same problem after swapping my plain modem card with one that had bluetooth also.

Couldn't find a driver that worked, but Windows Update found the right one and offered it up to me as an optional download.
