T41p LCD --> T40 ?

Hi

can I use the T41p LCD on the T40?

Do I need to change LCD cable or something?

The cable is specific to the screen resolution so if you are changing the screen resolution you would need to change the cable.

Do you have the complete lid with LCD cables etc. If not you can look up the part FRU you need in the Hardware Maintenance Manual.

Check you video chip. (you can do this by entering the Type number from your serial number tag on the opening page of Support and Downloads on the Lenovo web site.)

If it is a Radeon 7500, it may have problems handling the higher SXGA+ resolution of the T41p display (this is assuming you are replacing a XGA (1024 x 768) display. No problem is it is already a SXGA+, as it won’t be a Radeon 7500.

Some members have run with this combination no problem, and others report “video noise”. The Radeon 7500 does not really have the drive capability to handle the pixel rate for SXGA+ at normal refresh rates.
