What's the diff: "Multiburner" & "Combo&q

#1 Post by padmania » Thu Dec 30, 2004 5:42 pm

What's the difference between the "Ultrabay Multiburner Slim" drive and the "Combo II Slim" drive, and are they both supposed to do RW DVD- and R DVD+?
-------(time passes)
Ah, I think I have partly answered my own question, but would appreciate confirmation. The Combo appears to do CD-RW and DVD-R, and no DVD RW. So, the remaining element is, does the Combo do DVD+R?

Thanks!

Combo Drive is a CD writer/DVD reader while Multi-Burner is DVD writer/CD writer. The Multi-Burner writes DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM. It unofficially (i.e. not part of the spec) reads DVD+R/+RW but cannot write it.

And to answer the inevitable follow up question:

No, there is no 9.5mm ultra bay slim drive currently available that will burn the DVD+ formats.
