Power MaxiMiser doesn't run on fresh install

#1 Post by sinc » Sun Aug 31, 2008 10:37 pm

Hi,

I had a fresh XP sp2 re-install done recently, but I didn't recover it from my hard drive because the original install was unstable, so I had it re-installed from xp disks. I had to get all the thinkpad utilities from Lenovo, and everything is working properly (and better), except for the Battery maxiMiser. I did install it, as well as the APCI power management thing, but the only battery utility that shows up is the default xp one, which is pretty feeble. Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you remember to go into the directory where the driver files were unpacked and run the .exe file?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. OK, you're right it wasn't installed. But in my defence, when you open the downloaded file, the InstallShield Wizard runs. Why do they call it 'InstallShield Wizard' if all it's doing is unpacking? I assumed, because of the name, that it was installing. Anyway, it's all working now. Thanks so much. By the way, it's a T42p, 2373-HTU and I love it. I want to keep it running for a while, until the wide screen (short screen?) goes out of fashion, and they let us buy 15" UXGA laptops again. I hope that day comes. If this one dies tomorrow I'll replace it with a UXGA T60 and wait.
