Intel 2915ABG 1802 boot error

#1 Post by LPC » Tue Sep 02, 2008 5:51 pm

I just got a T42P. It came with a Intel 2200BG. I swapped it with my Intel 2915ABG. I am getting a 1802 error at boot up. "Unauthorized network card". I checked Thinkwiki and it shows the 2915ABG as an option for the T42P, so why am I getting this error?

not all intel 2915abg cards are compatybile with thinkpad's bios, propably card you have isn't ibm piece, but intel's

first try update your bios:

and embedded controler program:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-50279

if this won't help check this out: http://www.command-tab.com/2006/02/26/t ... error-fix/
this should help at last

Another solution may be to change the PCI-ID of the card itself. This will make the card introduce itself to the laptop as an IBM one and thus making the error go away.

However, you will need a laptop that accepts it (or a PC with a MiniPCI to PCI adapter) and Linux.

Here is a page that describes the process, google around for more info if you're interested.

Decided to keep the 2200BG, so never tried to get the 2915abg to work. Thanks for all the help!
