t43 lid latch problems

#1 Post by Dato2020 » Tue Sep 02, 2008 6:11 pm

My lid does not close properly and the left hook must be undone using a paper clip to slide over the L hook.

Any tips on how to open the lid and repair....seems like there should be a spring action?

Thanks much,

Dato

There is a spring on the left cover latch. You need to remove the LCD bezel to get to it. Use the T43 maintenance manual if you are going to try to fix it yourself. Let me ask you, if you slide the latch while the cover is open, does it spring back?

The latch does not spring back. The opposite hook on the left does spring, but that is the one which sticks.

Thanks,

I just tried this on my T43 so I can be sure. If the cover is open, and you slide the latch to the right, both hooks move simultaneously (at the same time) and if you release the latch they both spring back. If this does not occur then you have to repair the mechanism per the above post.
