T43p warranty question

#1 Post by kajencik » Wed Sep 03, 2008 3:02 am

Hello,

I finally had time to look a bit at my T43p warranty status and I got a reply from official local lenovo service center which stated this:
Out of Warranty - Covered by Maintenance Upgrade
And in upgrade section is this:
This product has a five year limited warranty which includes a ThinkPlus warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to EZServ. Customers may call their local service center for more information.
So, my question is, what is the difference between thinkplus and regular warranty? And is it international or only available in USA? I tried to go through the warranty documents, but I'm a bit lost...

Plain and simple...I had extended the original three year warranty before I sold you the laptop...what Lenovo here sees as "under warranty", its Czech division calls "maintanence upgrade" for whatever reason, but covered it is:

Type: Model: Serial number:
2687 D5U kajencik special

Status: Expiration date: Location:
In warranty 2010-06-20 UNITED STATES

Warranty service upgrades and maintenance services

Description:
This product has a five year limited warranty which includes a ThinkPlus warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to EZServ. Customers may call their local service center for more information.

Also, according to this page, it is eligible for service in your country:

Hope this clears the fog.

I would be very interested to hear if your extended warranty, which was apparently purchased in the USA, will indeed also cover where you are now, here in Europe? As discussed in the thread IBM/Denmark deny to honor warranty confirmed by IBM-Support, I have not been able to have IBM (in Denmark) honor a IWS-repair here in Denmark (IWS: International Warranty Service), regardess of several times beforehand being officially confirmed (by IBM/USA and IBM/Support in Europe) of the actual coverage.

Please keep us posted in the case that you actually ever request - and obtain! - (international, extended) warranty service here in Europe. Thanks!

well, the email from the service center was actually only a screenshot of some kind, where it was stated that my T43p is covered under the "maintenance upgrade" so I guess they'll repair it, altough it wasn't stated there directly, Here I tried to paste what was in the mail (the headings were on blue background - not like the regular warranty page at lenovo website, serial number Xed):
