T41 1024x768 14.1" tft + t42p mainboard with fire gl

Hello,

Will this combination work together:

I have working T41 1024x768 14.1" tft and other parts. If I buy a T42p mainboard with fire gl graphics will it work with the lower resolution screen?

The combination of the LCD with the proper LCD cable will most definitely work.

Not meaning to be critical, but more to the point; the question would be not so much "if", but "why"?

Unless you already have a source that will allow you to get a killer deal, any of the "p" MB are going to come at a significant premium. Therefore, if you are basing the project on a lower spec machine to start with, it really wouldn't make much sense. Kind of like putting a race prepped engine in a car with a truck transmission. Sure, it will have the ability to crunch video data far more efficiently than the run of the mill 32Mb Radeon, but how much of that are you going to be doing on a machine where the max resolution is XGA?

The only attainable difference that I can see would be if you used it on a regular basis on a dock or port replicator attached to a high res external monitor. Of course the other benefit would be, so that you will eventually be able to add a higher res LCD in the future.
