Hi all,
I was tidying up my friends thinkpad (cleaning the rubbish, half installed programs from the registry so it boots faster).
Sometime around that time (i.e. I'm not 100% this error wasn't in existence before I tided up), the USB devices and the CD-Writer stopped working...
When we tried to plug the flash drives into the machine windows acts as if nothing has happened (ie. doesn't add a new drive letter or ask for the installation disk etc.), the CD Rom does detect cd's but refuses to play audio cd's and won't allow her to write data to blank ones.
Also the taskbar and windows colour schemer appear to have defaulted back to the standard schemer...
My guess is that I've deleted something IBM specif that looks after the USB connections. Any idea what it was and (more importantly) how to fix it.
Scott.
