My CD/DVD is no longer being recognised on my T41. Any ideas

A few days ago I put a CD into my CD/DVD drive and was suprised to see that the CD drive wasn't being recognised.

So I tried to update the drivers, but that doesn't seem to have worked.

So IBM came round yesterday and swapped the CD/DVD drive, but still it is not being recongised. I tried adding the CD as new hardware, but that still didn't cure the problem.

The engineer said it could be the Motherboard that needs changing and has ordered a new motherboard to swap it next week.

Anyone else have this problem?

I am using Windows XP service pack 2.

IBM came round this morning with a motherboard and swapped it. But CD/DVD still not recognised, so we updated bios via IBM site and then tried again and still the CD/DVD is not being recognised.

IBM engineer said he would order another CD/DVD and motherboard and see if that solves the problem.

Any folks on the forum have this problem and what solution did you use.

Yes, a couple of people have had this same problem over the last couple of weeks. Search back on this forum for the answer.
