Crazy Cursor and Continuous Clicking

The cursor on my T40 has a mind of its own and races all over the screen and clicks on whatever it passes over. I disabled the touchpad, but that didn't work.

The problem continues when a mouse is attached.
The problem is not present in SAFE mode. I have appropriate cursor control and can point and click at things just when I want to.

We have also cleaned the keyboard with compressed air.

I'm not the most sophisticated of users, so please help me out with acronyms and instructions...

I would start by trying to install and run various anti-spyware software.

- Spybot
- Ad-Aware
- SUPERAntiSpyware

Also, run your anti-virus in safe mode .... and the above if possible.
