Memory compatibility t42 /t43

Hi,

I got the original 512 MB memory module from my brothers T43 ( he upgraded) and wanted to put it in the scond slot of my T42.

I assumed that the memory module should just run slower than max speed, but otherwise work. I sthis right?

The t43 module does physically not fit into the t42 slot. The central plastic edge (which prevent inserting the wrong way round) is displaced some 0.5 mm relative to the gap in the memory module.


I see 3 potential explanations:
- the difference is on purpose, the memory is not compatible
- it is lousy manufacturing, and i can "convince" the 2 part to fit without damaging anything
- the waranaty replaced t42 board is not what it claims to be ( in the memory slot area is a sticker that is a used and refurbished part)

not compatible, sorry.
the t42 takes ddr sdram. the t43 takes ddr2 sdram.
