T41 connected to a 2878 Port Replicator II

I have several issues with my T41 and wanted to know if anybody on this forum have experienced the same?

1. The USB ports on the 2878 are dead. I have tried powering off the laptop with all USB's disconnected - then disconnected the 2878 and powered both units off. Next step was disable the USB controller and let XP re-initialize the the controller. It did but the 2878 is still dead. The USB ports are the only thing not functioning on the 2878. Not sure what else to try.

2. IBM access - when I select IBM access from the start menu is simply opens and sits there. None of the buttons function.

Thanks in advance to anybody that may have suggestions on how to resolve.

Is this a port replicator II or a minidock II? The port replicator should just be a straight pass through - nothing to go wrong except bad connections. The minidock II has powered USB ports so the problem may be here (although I would think the signal lines are still straight pass through).

As far as Access IBM from the boot menu, sounds like someone might have erased the hidden partition (?)
