battery issue

#1 Post by wampir » Mon Sep 15, 2008 1:27 am

HI!

I have T40 with Dothan 1.7ghz, 1024mb + 256mb, ata 16gb and wifi from Asus.

In last three weeks i noticed that my batteries (4.4Ah and 6.6Ah) lost their abilities.

3 weeks ago i could work for about 2h(4.4Ah) and 2.5h (6.6Ah)

now ..

no matter what i can work only 1-1:20h (6.6Ah)

What's going on?

I tried completely discharge and charge again but it didn't help.

Maybe something is wrong with laptop ?

Most likely nothing wrong, just a dead cell inside the battery.. Quite normal if your battery is 2+ years old (is it ?). I am affraid only solution is to replace it.

battery meters are faulty, don't rely on them

get a stopwatch!

I think he meant measure the time using a reliable clock or wristwatch to see how long the battery really lasts, rather than depend on the hours and minutes which the battery meter says is available.

Battery meter can go wrong sometimes. My R51e is still running for 30 minutes when the battery meter shows 0%.

I agree that using stopwatch is the best way to measure how long your battery really lasts. Hope this helps :)

I see that you have a T40.

I have a T40, and a T42. The T40 battery was quite worse (only 45min battery time). I put it inside the T42, and ran the "Recalibrate battery" thingy. Now it is working for 2:15
