Restore to Factory Settings

If the recovery partition is in tact and you don't have the recovery discs, how do you boot into the partition and restore to the original software settings?

For the computers I have had, turn off, start, press F12 (or the Blue IBM/ThinkVantage Button) before the OS starts up, and follow the prompts to the re-image section (Note the warning - ALL data lost). ... JDH

Tried F11 before, didn't work. I'll use F12. Thanks.

Edit: Neither seem to work. Just brings up a screen saying do I want to continue with startup press Esc or F1 for the BIOS utility.

Just press the blue IBM Thinkpad button while the initial splash screen is up.

Pressing the big blue 'Access IBM' button doesn't work, when pressing it on the splash screen.

I have Linux installed dual-boot with Windows XP, I haven't touched the IBM_Service partition though.

Edit: Looking at the drive the partition is still there, at 4.62GB but I remember last time I installed Linux it had a label now it doesn't. It says there's still only 105MB free though.

You are going to have to access the restore partition through your Linux bootloader, grub or lilo.
Which distro are you running?

Fedora 9 using grub. Is this because of me dual-booting?

Well you are going to have to edit your /boot/grub/menu.lst file to give you access to the restore partition.
