IBM T42 Reddish Hue on startup

I get a reddish screen on the ibm startup screen which disapears on the welcome screen and desktop. If I reboot again the ibm startup screen is fine. Backlight problems?

Do you get this reddish hue when connected to an external monitor?

My guess would indeed be that your backlight CCFL is on its way out.

Reddish hue is a dead giveaway for a dying backlight, nothing else has this effect on the LCD.

Contact forum member jamiphar (James) who offers this type of repair and has done a great job on several of my ThinkPads.
