T40 won't shutdown

Hi all,
i've a T40 model 2374PG2 with installed Win XP SP3.
After a windows update - sincerely i have not check which specific update was - my T40 won't shutdown...
Win seems to close correctly, but remains a blue screen, and i must force shutting down by pressing power button for few seconds.

Also sleep mode won't work anymore.

Was it happened to someone else?
Any suggest?

Well, sounds like an SP3 issue. Some folks have no prroblems, others have all kinds.

Yes i know about the SP3 problems.
But my problems start not after SP3 update, but after another update.

But when i update T40 with SP3 i have not problem.
I'm going to look at the update history; i hope i'll able to find this problematic update.

Hi all.
So, i check the updates list; the SP3 was installed on may 8, and i have no problem at all.

Problems start after those updates, done at 30 august (sorry for the italian language, quite understandable in this case):

1. Windows XP Aggiornamento della protezione per Microsoft .NET Framework, versione 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB928366)

2. Windows XP Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

3. Windows XP Aggiornamento per Windows XP (KB951618)

4. Windows XP Microsoft .NET Framework versione 1.1 - italiano

5. Windows XP Notifica Windows Genuine Advantage (KB905474)

Nothing else.
From that date, starts the problem described in my first post.
No one with similar problem?

I have seen this once before on a non-IBM laptop.

The cause was an old version of Logitech Mouseware.

I installed a newer version and both problems were solved.

I've just spent about 1,5 h to check all drivers and services and autostart process...
All seems ok, but problem persists...

I have experienced the same problem. Roll back to SP2 and you should see the problem go away.

What BIOS version do you have? Go make sure that is up to date..

Uhm, rollback to SP2 with no success, problem persists.

I try also to uninstall all the updates listed in my previous post, without success.

Bios is at the last version (i think): about six month ago i do a bios update, and it seems that there isn't any other update available.

Any other suggests?
