Extending EZServ warranty
Extending EZServ warranty
Hi guys,
I'm very satisfied with how EZServ has handled my hardware issues. I know some of you have problems, but I'm pretty happy with the fast turnaround.
Now, how do I extend my warranty? I bought my T42p with 1 year EZServ -- How do I make it more? I can't seem to find a simple answer on IBM's site. I found some order form for warranty but it seems to be for business customers only.
Thanks in advance.

Can somebody explain to me why the highest model # that they show for the T-series on that page is T41? Are we T42 owners not allowed to upgrade our warranties?!
Also, why the differentiation between "home use" and "business use" when it comes to warranty options? When you are in the process of ordering the computer on the web site, I noticed that the warranty upgrade options that you can select during checkout are restricted to business users and corporate buyers. So, what, is a home/personal user supposed to wait and order an extended warranty after-the-fact? What if I had purchased a business ServicePac during checkout while ordering on-line?
IBM's ServicePac policies have me confused...am I the only one?

when i upgraded my warranty for my t42p i just selected t41p. I upgraded from depot to onsite service. sure enough, everything worked out since i have had an onsite motherboard and LCD replacements on two separate occasions.
the answer to your second questions is that business warranties are different. for example business customers can get Thinkpad Protection Plan, but home users cannot.

Some states consider the TPP a Warranty; some consider it an Insurance Policy. If the state consides it an insurance policy, then IBM must meet insurance license regulations, which they don't in most states. As a result, you cannot have a BILL TO ADDRESS in these states. (So find someone else out-of-state to buy it!).
Add to the list, NEW YORK STATE. New York as of last week declared the TPP to be an insurance plan, and IBM may no longer offer the TPP to people will bill to addresses in NY.

That sucks. I live in California but thought I was cool because I have a school address in New Yorkandyli wrote:Some states consider the TPP a Warranty; some consider it an Insurance Policy. How come I can buy a thinkpad with EZServ warranty in California but I can't extend it? Strange
I want to extend EZServ.andyli wrote:Are you extending the EZServ or are you purchasing a TPP for the laptop? I could see why EZServ would be allowed (its a warranty plan), but the TPP not (it is a insurance plan).
You don't know anyone not in one of those states that you can get to buy the service plan for you?
