T43 1871-FWG BIOMETIRCS FAULT HELP PLEASE

Good evening all,

Ok this is a weird one, i installed a sp3 to the above machine, after it asked for a reboot, so let it carry on, on start up swiped finger as normal it accepted then just "hung" sooooo power off then power on asked again so i hit escape to over ride so i could enter p/word and again just sat there hanging........

tried f1/f2/f11/f12/think button/ctrl-s

and i get nothing except asking for finger swipe or esc to override last option was to try and boot from linux cd to see what would happen and nothing either....

any ideas
