Lotus SmartSuite License?

#1 Post by rgbyhkr » Thu Jun 03, 2004 4:38 pm

I noticed this listed in the Software section of the TABOOK descriptions of all models:

"License (CD not included)
- Lotus® SmartSuite® Millennium
and Lotus Notes® Stand-alone Client"

Is the license a permanent user-license or a trial and is the software pre-loaded? Just wondering...

There is a number in the back of the manual that comes with the Thinkpad.
When you call them you can order the CD's for Lotus notes and SmartSuite Millenium edition free of charge.

Thanks for the quick and informative update. I think I'll probably do that when my T42 arrives. Can't turn down free software even if I might not use it all that much. :D

It's permanent, it's not preloaded and as was already stated you have to call a 1-800 to get the CDs. The "good news" is that, unlike some supplementary software, the CDs will install on any PC not just a ThinkPad. You'll have to read the license to see if it's transferable, though.

(Also in my experience the CDs they send are often one sub-release behind, e.g. you get SS 9.7, not 9.8 and Notes 6.0, not 6.5.)

I received the latest SmartSuite 98, or Millenium Edition, whatever it's called... lol... but Lotus Notes client was 6.0.3.
