Discouraged about EZServ - Any solution(s)???

#1 Post by sakura33 » Wed Sep 24, 2008 9:28 pm

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster here.

Sent in my T42 for repair on Monday, just received it back today. Not only did they not perform any repairs, but there is a new crack on my palmrest which was never there before.

The computer was sent in for multiple problems:

~ random lines and black boxes on the display, including blanking display

~ overheating and eventual shutdown

- keyboard missing some of the text of the characters

The display problems are very random in occurrence - sometimes it will happen several times within an hour; and other times one or two weeks will go by and there are no problems.

As for the overheating problem, the computer will get quite hot occasionally and finally just shutdown. This can be while it is just sitting at idle and not performing any operations, or if I am trying to run several programs simultaneously.

And I had requested the keyboard be replaced as there are a number of keys that are no longer clearly visible.

It appears that if the only thing they did was transfer my computer from one box to another and in the process crack the palmrest.

Before I call back to EZServ to find some answers, are there any specific hints or tips I should know about? Needless to say, I'm very disappointed with the whole experience. And I only have about 8 more days before the 3 year warranty expires. I'm actually inclined to think that they did not perform any repairs because of the fact the warranty will be expiring next week. Do I have any reasonable recourse?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

The EZServ vendor used to be Solectron Memphis. Don't know who they are today and yes service level had deteriorated.

I sent in my R51 with a miniPCI slot problem and they replaced the PCMCIA slot!!!!

When I sent my R51 in the second time, it was on payment hold due to warranty had expired already. I had to call and explained the circumstances.

As long as you called within the warranty period, they will fix it.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a terrible experience.

Since you're so close to the end of your warranty, it might be a good idea to e-mail someone at EZServ, so that you'll have on record that you had an issue before the warranty period ended. If I were you, I'd want to e-mail a real person working in the department and the catch-all support address, if they have one.

I've never worked with EZServ, and hopefully someone can give you good advice about how to get them to fix your problems. Please post back if/when the issue is resolved.

I like to use the EZServ web page to report a technical issue too.

The big problem with that web page is that the fields are too short. So shipment of the empty box and return box became huge ordeals. Suite numbers would be missing because there would be nowhere to put them. Yet they never fixed it, even having packages bouncing around all over the place due to incomplete addresses.
