Windows Installer Error

Hi there
I have a T42 that came with a fresh xp install, but as soon as I try to load any other software on it I get an error message that makes reference to windows installer?

Any ideas as to what that maybe?

Make sure you have updated all your Windows patches up to at least SP2 and everything after. You can temporarily skip SP3 (although I would do that as well). Windows Installer had a bunch of revisions between SP0 and SP2. You need the latest one and as I noted, at least SP2. ... JDH

I installed xp service pack 3 from an exe on a jump drive...wouldn't that have had the installer updates?

Maybe not. Just Google Windows Installer from Microsoft and download the latest software.

I would uninstall XP SP3 and do all the SP2 updates instead. I think that will solve your problem.
