Memory Speed Help

#1 Post by atct86 » Thu Jan 06, 2005 3:13 am

My T40 2373-MU4 has 1 PC2100 512 stick, and another PC 2300 512 Stick.

Whichj one is the correct one for my thinkpad?

Your T40 uses PC2100 RAM. Any different RAM types (speed usually differing) in a system will run at the lower speed. So the PC2300 is actually running at PC2100 speed, which I think is 266MHz. It is not dangerous having two different types of RAM in a system, they just both run at the slower speed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

That helps

I used CPU-Z to see what speed my memory is operating at and it says my memory is operating at 132.9 mhz.

It says the PC2100 is operating at 100 and 133 and the PC2300 is at 133 and 142. That seems far off from what is supposed to be running at.
