T40 Motherboard - No signs of life

#1 Post by sparta.rising » Sun Oct 05, 2008 10:13 pm

I purchased a T40 motherboard from a fellow forum member. It was working when he shipped it out, and it was packaged extremely carefully, however, when I reassembled it, it showed no signs of life. The seller is a very honest fellow and I trust that it was working, I believe something happened during reassembly.

The motherboard FRU is 91P7716

When I press the power button, nothing happens. No LEDs light up, no fans spinning. I've tried AC power, main battery power, and ultrabay battery power. Same results. I've tried 3 different CPU's, 2 LCD assemblies, 3 RAM sticks, 2 fan assemblies, 3 power adapters, 2 keyboards. Same result. All of these components run fine in other systems. I've checked all of the fuses with a multimeter and they're all good. I've looked over the board very closely and don't see any loose, broken, or burned parts.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for what to check or may be broken? Or am I just SOL?

If all else fails, as for a refund, I am quite sure the seller will accomodate [since I am the seller :) ]

Definitely try pressure on the GPU when powering up (since that was the original problem with it.)
