T43 - Opening .pdf email attachment shutsdown MSIE 7

My T43 has WinXP Pro SP-2, MS Office Pro 2003 SP-3 and Acrobat Reader 9 (updated).
If I try to open a .pdf file attached to an AOL or Hotmail email from within Internet Explorer7 it gives me the normal OPEN-SAVE dialog box, but no matter which button I click on, it gives me the error and option to send a report to MS. The Explorer tjem shutsdown & returns me to desktop.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Reader 9 and updated it... no fix. A friend suggested uninstalling Acrobat Reader and replacing it with Foxit Reader... no fix.
Any suggestions for a fix or work-around? Thanks,

Try changing your browser to Firefox 3, and +1 for foxit.

I use Outlook (I dislike webmail for my uses), I have Acrobat 9, and office is V2007 Pro. All of that plays nicely together. On another machine with office V2003 and Acrobat 9 reader (my desktop) and all of that plays nicely together.

So either web mail is causing you a problem and people have already offered solutions, or there is a different problem that causes this.

Downloaded and reinstalled MSIE 7... fixed it.

Interesting. I had a client machine where browsing quit. Different things happen to the particular machine, and after a couple of tests, I back-levelled MSIE to V6, and then re-upgraded. All was well after that. I use Microsoft IE to the exclusion of other browsers because it works for me and offers no impediments. However, there must be some kind of flaw that causes this.
