Hi there,
I'm a happy owner of a T42p. But sometimes, when I put my notebook to sleep(suspend to disk) and want to resume my Windows session, I'm losing my keyboard. That means: I can login with my password(I can type in the password) but then when I'm logged in, the keyboard won't respond at all(can't write an address in a browser or a post in a forum, it just doesn't respond). Anyone ever experienced that problem? What can I do about that?
Thanks in advance!
"Losing" Keyboard after Hiberation
I have never heard of this on a Thinkpad. I recently had it happen with a desktop, and found that it was a bad keyboard (smae problem on other PCs either, but other keyboards didn't have the problem on the PC in question) after I tried to set the BIOS to power up when I hit the spacebar.
I suspect that you have either a bad keyboard or a bad connection.
If this were mine, I would send the unit to EZ Serve. I think that you also can get IBM to send you a keyboard to replace yourself as it's not very difficult to do using the Hardware Maintenance Manuals that are available (somewhere) on IBM's web site. I think Bill also has links to HWMs on his web page.

I can't send the unit anywhere because I have to use it for school unfortunatelyWilsonF wrote:I have never heard of this on a Thinkpad. My family comes from near Trub.
See if IBM will send you a new keyboard OR find an authorized service center and just pay to have it diagnosed and fixed. I am sure that IBM service is no exception to the "more expensive in CH" rule, but I would get it done.

I don't have a solution for the problem, but I have the same in about 50% of cases when my T41p "awakes" from hibernation... can't use keyboard, touchpad or trackpoint and always have to reset the computer...
asked IBM helpline... they say they never heard of the problem and don't know what it could be...
