T23 USB 2.0 Hub Problem

#1 Post by echang2 » Sat Jan 08, 2005 5:19 pm

Hi,

I've been reading this forum for about a month or so now and it's been very informative. Here's my problem that I can't solve. I have an IBM T23. It's just been factory restored to Windows 2000 and then upgraded to Windows XP. It's docked in the IBM Thinkpad Dock with a SIIG USB 2.0/Firewire Combo PCI card and a Belkin USB 2.0 7 port hub (F5U237) which is hooked up to my external USB drives.

When I have the drives hooked up to the external USB hub, and I turn on one of the drives, the computer does not recognize it. When I hook the drive up directly to the USB card, and turn on the drive, the computer recognizes it. When I hook up the UBS hub to my T42 and turn on one of the drives, the T42 recognizes the drive. So the T23 doesn't like this USB hub. Has anyone else had problems with this hub and their T23? Is there any way to solve the problem? I really like this hub and would like to get it to work. Thanks in advance.

Which version of Windows XP are you using (ie. have you installed the SP2 update)? I'm no expert, but I vaguely remember that there was something in SP2 which affected USB 2.0.

I only have SP1. I really don't like SP2 and I made sure I did all the updates but SP2.

Dunno, maybe it could be one of these issues fixed in SP2?
