waiting the recovery CDs

#1 Post by ashat » Sat Oct 25, 2008 4:36 pm

I am still waiting the recovery CD set for my T41p.
Two weeks are gone... Hope they are not lost somewhere.

Anybody knows if they are coming with XP o XP SP2?

(I am not interested in SP3, it turned my R40 to blue screen on last May...)

In case they will come with XP not SP2, can somebody suggest me the correct sequence for the following operations?

1) install XP with the CD set
2) update the bios
3) update to SP2 (by downloading )
4) installing NOD32 (antivirus)
5) run PC doctor

another doubt:

should I wipe all the partitions on the HD before to proceed, (with e.g. GParted in Ubuntu CD Live), or I can just simply start with the recovery CDs?

thanks a lot in advance,

Annalisa

The restore discs will come with SP2 installed.
I would do 1 4 and 5.
I wouldn't update the BIOS unless there is a problem or feature you need.
There is no need to wipe the partitions on the drive, the recovery discs will do that for you. Be notified that all your partitions will be removed when you run the discs. Backup any critical data before running the recovery disc set.
