T42 - Am I looking at a blown fuse?

I posted earlier about power issues with my T42. The power cord was getting frayed until finally it stoped working. At that point it switched to battery mode and when that ran out of juice it was game over. I have since bought two different replacement power cords but it won't charge or run directly from the power cord.

I've had issues before with the plug wiggling loose but had it fixed by IBM and currently it seems rock solid. From what I've read there are 3 fuses on the motherboard that I could replace. I'm willing to attempt stripping it down to the motherboard and then having a pro replace the fuses. Does this sound logical? I hate to spend an extra $100 on a lost cause when I could stick it into a replacement laptop.

Since the cord was frayed, it could have easily shorted and caused a fuse to blow.
Check fuse F2 next to the power socket

Thanks Harry. In your opinion would you just replace the mother board or have a tech verify whether the fuse needs to be replaced?

It depends on a couple of factors.
1.) Is the fuse check/repair procedure inexpensive?
2.) Is the 'tech' competent and experienced with Thinkpads?
3.) Does the 'tech' have a replacement fuse?
3.) Can you get a systemboard for less money than the 'tech' charges?
4.) Can you install the systemboard yourself?.
5.) If you can install it yourself, why are you wasting time with the 'tech' in #2? .
6.) If you can't install it yourself, what's the total cost of the systemboard job from said 'tech'?.

The fuse can easily be checked with a multimeter.
