Just bought a new T41 for my daughter. Compared to my T22, feels to my fingers the travel is shorter, the action is stiffer, and there's more variability from key to key. The pointer buttons also feel worse and the scroll button position is just terrible compared to when there was no touchpad.
Kinda disappointed, as you can tell.
Is it just me, or latest T keyboards worse than earlier T's?
Nothing really new there, I'm afraid. IME, the keyboard on the T40 feels better than the T23 which feels worse than the 600E/Xs which feels better than anything especially the 760EL/XLs it replaced which felt worse than the 755CE it replaced. Eventually, I got used to all of them and several in between. The layout is still the same (more or less), thank goodness.

I think the T40 has a better keyboard than the T23. The T23 always felt a bit mushy to me compared to the 600 series, and the T40 has a solid 600-ish feel to me, though not quite as good.
The scroll key on the T40 works better for me than it does on the T23. I have to stretch my thumb a bit more to reach the T2x scroll key whereas I can reach it more naturally on the T4x.
Opinions on keyboards and pointing devices are highly subjective. I'm not surprised that some people like the softer feel of the T2x and some prefer the solid stroke of the T4x/600.
