Help on re-install of the pcmcia door /spring back onto T40p

#1 Post by Tony Chan » Fri Oct 31, 2008 1:29 am

Hi,

The pcmcia of my T40p broke off for sometime now. I've just purchased a door/spring from a forum member BUT I can't figure out how to put back the strange looking spring in place.

I would be really appreciate if someone can take couple pics at the pcmcia/spring to give me some clue on how that spring sits.

This will not be the answer you are looking for.

The door is not listed in the Hardware Maintance Manual under User Replacedable parts. When the door on my T41 broke, the vendor replaced the base in order to fix it (under warranty at the time). ... JDH

I also notice the parts and procedure did not list in the HMW but I've bought the door and spring from a forum member ( the original door was actually broken ) so I was hoping I can somehow put it back on as long as I have the spring and door intact.

I really can't stand the seeing the big hole there, but I'm not going to go through the trouble of changing the whole bottom just because the door is missing.

THANK YOU rkawakami !!!! That's worth more than 4 million words for sure

All along I was thinking the spring was supposed to be sitting at the centre. No wonder I can't find a way to get it done

See this is why this forum is so valuable to the thinkpad user community. I really appreciate you not only just take clear pictures, but actually use those pictures to explain how to re-assemble the door.

Thanks again.
