How should I keep my battery.

#1 Post by i-SnipeZ » Thu Nov 06, 2008 11:46 am

Well, i got a little message bubble in Windows saying that my battery has reached 89% original capacity and i dont want this to reduce much more thus im asking how should I store my battery to keep it alive as long as possible. I currently use my T-43 on the ac adapter about 99.9% of the time and it is always on (sleep mode or otherwise) and my charging threshold is "Start: 60% Stop: 100% (Full Charge). Should i drain the battery and put it in the refridge or in a cool, dark closet. Or should I leave it in? What are my options?

Battery will slowly degrade even when not in use. Best practice is use it (if you are using it) to the end (complete discharge), then fully charge without interruption.

Question is - if you use your laptop on the AC power most time, why the hell don't you have normal workstation ?

i do, its on ebay though and there are times I really need the portability of a laptop, i cant stand having 2 computers though, the laptop would never get used until its needed at school which isnt often. Is there a place i could post a link to the ebay w/o getting yelled at by the moderators and admins.

Suggestion would be to leave the battery in the laptop, but set the charge thresholds to 30% and 40%. As long as the battery stays cool enough in the laptop, it should be fine. Otherwise, bring the charge to 40-50%, and remove battery, place it in the refrigerator.

How old is the battery?

How many "cycles" does it have on it?

Cheers,
