Dear Forum members:
I recently increased the RAM in my wife's T42 (2373-5TU) from 1 GB
to 2 GB. I had a difficult time removing the keyboard, having to
press down quite hard to limit stripping of the screw heads.
Afterwards, the mouse buttons associated with the Track Point
started to have a life of their own, with the left (and sometimes
the right) one working either intermittently or acting as if it were
repeatedly being clicked even without any touching it. The only
way to restore proper functioning of the mouse buttons was to flex
the palmrest; even then, that worked only for a few minutes.
So, two questions from my recent activity:
* What screwdrivers are preferred for removing/installing the
keyboard screws? Do I need some JIS crosspoint screwdrivers
(See http://www.moodytools.com/MTI_CATALOG_PAGE_11.pdf
for some background)?
* Could I have damaged the keyboard while re-installing the
screws? As I stated above, I did have to push down quite a bit on
the screws themselves to reduce damage to the screw heads.
Thank you all for your assistance.
Cyrus
