How to recover a T43p using Rescue and Recovery Partition

#1 Post by mouse@cheese.storage » Mon Nov 24, 2008 10:07 pm

Dear all,

Up to last week, I thought the R&R partition really had some use in case of emergency, but when I needed it, I had to conclude that I could not boot from it.
I had made myself a set of Recovery disks of my personal setup, but when I wanted to put them back, they did not work, so I only had the option of going back to factory default. Though, when wanting to do that from the recovery partition, I found that according to: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4UFUYK this does not seem possible for my model (T43p).
So, what is the use of R&R, if you cannot check the disks to be working until you need them, and you cannot start from the partition on your drive ?
Or do I miss some knowledge here ?
Many thanks in advance,

Regards,

WM

The rescue partition should work, provided the HD is working in the computer.

Accessing it is simple – press Access IBM as soon as you see the IBM splash screen during boot, then follow the instructions for Restore to Factory State.
