Slack joint on T43 tft display

#1 Post by sichgeis » Tue Nov 25, 2008 7:03 pm

Hey I have a little problem with my display. As you can see in the linked avi-video when opening and closing the display lid there appears and disappears a fine green line from the bottom to the top of the right side of the screen. To me it seems like a slack joint in the display connector that causes all green subpixels in a column to be activated. Are there any other thoughts or suggestions how to cure? Eat fresh, C.

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, the column driver flex circuit is coming loose from the glass panel. So the entire column is going off (bright) and it happens to be the green column.

Is there a way to repair or stop the loosening?

There are rework procedures for these panels. But even an XGA panel has over 3000 columns, it will be beyond home repair.
