T41 cannot boot up on battery

i spilled some water recently onto my T41 and causing it to be short circuited. Now when i tried to boot the machine on battery mode (w/o power adapter inserted), the machine refuses to boot up. When i removed the battery n insert the power adapter, the boot up is successful. If both battery n power adapter is inserted, the boot up will fail also. I have checked the fuses and confirmed that they are working. Anyone can direct me where else can i change or troubleshoot?

I have seen several instances where liquid spills have killed the battery circuitry. That is my guess as to the root cause of your problem. Try a new battery.

also put a volt meter on the battery and see if it is producing power..

after a water spill a close look at the inside might be educational..

how long ago the water spill occured is also a question..
just an hour ago then i would be washing that thinkpad with alcohol wipes and swabs..
you gotta be sure that it is dry..

if weeks ago then just look for obviouos points where a short might have occured..

the spilled occurred abt a wk back. So should be dried by now. Ya i have tried using a new battery that is fully charged, no luck, still refuses to boot up. Besides the battery n adapter, i suspect there might be a power circuitry inside the m/b which "identifies" which supply is supplying power to the m/b but i dunno which to start.
