Need BIOS password help

#1 Post by sciontim » Mon Dec 08, 2008 2:03 pm

Hi all, I have been on here in a bit. I have a friend with a T42 that was removed from a domain and put on a workgroup, or at least that is what she is telling me, none of this makes since to me.

Anyways, she did the reboot after she changed the network settings and when it rebooted, it was asking for a POP password, she didn't know this, as the laptop used to be her's from work but she got to keep it when the company went out of business. So, I took it and tried to get in the BIOS to reset all passwords, turns out there is a BIOS Admin password, and she doesn't know this pass either.

Does anyone know how I might be able to get pass this password and get her working on this laptop again, or is she just SOL?

Thanks
Tim

she's going to need to remember the password or get it from the company.

just a heads-up... discussion of password circumvention techniques is taboo here.

Not looking to "hack", I've heard rumors of a master Lenovo password and was wondering if anyone knows it.

Also, I forgot to mention. I was the IT admin at her last company and there was never a password put on the system. So, I'm confused as to how this happened.
