I'm trying to troubleshoot why my T40 does not engage the screensaver - and why the screensaver, when engaged, deactivates randomly without any keyboard or mouse inputs. In investigating this, I noticed the BIOS has a setting under the Power menu for "screen blanking", and the default was set to "enable". I disabled it - but was wondering what it was and if "enable" means preventing the screen from blanking or allowing it to blank (presumably "blanking" means by a screen saver).
Also, if anyone knows what could be causing my screensaver and power schemes to be ignored on an essentially "vanilla" T40 (reformatted and recovered via the IBM discs), or knows how I can track the offending process down, I'd like to hear from you![/b]
What is Screen Blanking in BIOS?
