Clean Install with Recovery CDs?

#1 Post by treker » Sat Jan 15, 2005 1:16 pm

I know you can make ONE Recovery set of CDs. Can you make just a CLEAN XP install - no IBM hidden partions or anything else - using these CDs?

Man, that is alot of steps. Why couldn't IBM just ship a XP disk with their systems? We paid for XP. It couldn't cost that much more to include an installable disk. Even Dell does that!

Do a full recovery from the Cd set, then kill the service partiton and the Drivers,Ibmshare,Ibmtools folders on your system partition.

You'll get a fully configured clean Xp install.

It's pretty easy to make your own bootable XP CD since everything you need is in the i386 directory that ships on your computer. Using BCD sounds like a lot of steps, but once you have it set up, you can burn as many CDs as you need.
