Hibernation

#1 Post by akhavan » Sat Jun 05, 2004 2:42 am

Hi,
Is it safe to travel when you have the ThinkPad on hibernation. Going through airport starting the window at each security is not very practical so if I have my T41P on hibernation would I damage the hard disk?

Thanks

Sepehr

When the laptop is hibernating, it's actually completely turned off. So yes, it's safe.

I do a lot of travelling and most of the time I leave my laptops in standby, not hibernated.

Never had any problems.

how long will the T42 stay in standby before running all the way down? will it go into hibernation if it gets too low?

I left my T42p (2373KXU) in standby overnight and my battery went from 100% to 97% in the morning. Don't know if that is accurate but if so the TP could stay in standby for a few days at least.
