T42p - display XGA externally and stretched/expanded on LDC?

#1 Post by jeroenp » Sun Jan 16, 2005 8:06 am

I'm trying to get my new T42p Q1U to display XGA externally on a projector, and have the same picture stretched on my LCD display.

My A21p's can do it, but so far no luck on the T42p.
This is what I tried:

- turn on LDC expansion on both the BIOS and the Thinkpad Configuration utility
- These are my presentation director settings:

[scheme1]
Name="JeroenP - presentation - LDC + External on 1024x768"
DisablePMTimers=1
DisableScreenSaver=1
EnableThinkLight=0
EnableWallPaper=0
WallPaperPosition=1
AutomaticOpenFile=0
CleanDesktop=0
PresentationFileName=""
DisplayDeviceMode=3
IsIconPosition=0
WallPaperFileName=""
ShowScheme=1
ExtendedPosition=0
CRTisProjector=0
[scheme1-00]
Width=1024
Height=768
ColorDepth=32
RefreshRate=60
RefreshRate.LCD=0
TVSignalFormat=0
CRTCConfig=3
DeviceForCRTC.0=2
DeviceForCRTC.1=1

Any other ideas?

What happens when you hit Fn-F7?

When I do that on my new T42p I get an IBM dialog box with 5 options, one of which is for XGA on the projector and mirrored XGA on the laptop screen.

I haven't tried it out with an XGA projector though so I don't know if it works.

That's what I do. It results in a tiny (non expanded) 1024x768 XGA on my laptop LCD, and a normal XGA on the projector.

Have you tried right-clicking on your desktop to bring up your display settings and then set your laptop resolution to VGA before you connect to the the projector?

Hmm - that seems to work!

But I'm pretty sure I didn't have to do that with my A21p.

Anyway: thanks for the tip, though!
