To get more information I ran the tool 'dmidecode' under Linux. The output was quite strange:
Code: Select all
Handle 0x0001
DMI type 1, 25 bytes.
System Information
Manufacturer: IBM
Product Name: HTG . nkPad T42p
Version: SERIAL#
Serial Number: t...
UUID: Not Settable
Wake-up Type: Power SwitchCan someone owning a T42(p) post his dmidecode (and maybe vpddecode) results (handles 0x0001 to 0x0005) here for comparison?
Since the machine has to go to service again because of another issue, this is not that much of a problem since the guy can fix it then but I'm curious about this.
BTW - can this information be altered without the Thinkpad Hardware Maintenance Diskette?
UPDATE:
After resetting the model nr. with the bios update diskette at least the garbled information is gone. Now only the machine type and serial number are wrong.
