When using up and down arrows on my t40 thinkpad, the page moves(scrolls) too slow when using the up and down arrow buttons on the laptop. On another of similar brand and model of t40 laptop, I don't have this problem. Have tried all the about"config" tweaks on the net, also tried within mouse prop. to adjust this, nothing works.
Any sound helpful advice would be appreciated.
These are No Good:
Go to your about:config page from Firefox (type: about:config in the address bar) and then look for the mousewheel.withshiftkey.numlines field. By default, mine was set to 1. I set it to 7 and now pages scroll must fast
Go to about:config, where there are two prefs to change. Double-click mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines to set it to false, which makes Firefox use its own setting instead of the system-wide setting. Then change mousewheel.withnokey.numlines to however many lines you want to scroll at a time.

Thank you.

How is the RAM usage in this slow T40? Do you need a disk cleanup and defrag?

ram is fine, 512 ram , ccleaner used frequently, hdrive is fine
have disabled all unnecessary processes thru services.msc, msconfig
if you google 'page scrolls too slow with firefox 3.0' you will see this is a problem w firefox, not IE
you thought it had to do w avail ram?
on other t40 almost same config, it does Not have this problem though hdrive on that one is old and noisy-
Hard to figure out?
